Tyler Bates

Bates began his career as a rock guitarist before transitioning into film and television scoring in the 1990s, building a reputation for aggressive, contemporary action and horror scores well before this remake assignment.

A prolific action-genre composer (300, Guardians of the Galaxy), he scored the 2008 remake with modern orchestral weight rather than quoting Herrmann's theremins directly. He built his career scoring a wide range of contemporary action and horror films, and deliberately avoided directly referencing Bernard Herrmann's iconic original score.

He later became known for his work on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy films, continuing a prolific career across major studio action and superhero productions.
