Who we are

RetroBMovies (retrobmovies.com) is an independent reference and community site about science fiction cinema of the 1970s–1990s. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Data we collect

• Account data — if you register: email address, display name, a hashed password (we never store plain-text passwords), and optional profile details such as a bio or language preference.
• Content you create — comments, ratings, poll votes, watchlist entries and hidden-gem nominations, linked to your account.
• Newsletter — your email address if you subscribe, with double opt-in confirmation. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Technical data — IP address and browser information in standard server logs, for anonymous poll de-duplication, and for affiliate-link click statistics.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and local storage to remember your theme preference. Third-party services listed below may set their own cookies.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Google may set cookies for this purpose. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon, eBay and other retailers may be affiliate links; we record anonymous click counts to understand which links are useful. The retailer's own privacy policy applies once you leave our site.

Payments (Stripe)

Donations and memberships are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we only receive confirmation of payment, the amount, and a customer reference so we can activate your membership perks. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.

How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists. Server logs rotate automatically. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile from your account page. You may request a copy of your data or the deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us at info@retrobmovies.com. Account deletion is permanent.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves; the date above always reflects the latest revision. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
