Michael Giacchino
Composer
b. 1967 · USA
Giacchino studied film at the School of Visual Arts before breaking into composing through video game scoring in the 1990s, an unusual entry point that led to his eventual partnership with Pixar and major studio filmmaking.
The Pixar-favorite composer brought the same unguarded, brassy optimism to Tomorrowland that defined his work on The Incredibles and Up. He won an Academy Award for his score to Up, and has become one of the most prolific and versatile composers in modern Hollywood.
His score for Tomorrowland deliberately echoes the triumphant, brass-heavy sound of mid-century World's Fair newsreels to match the film's retrofuturist themes.
