Kiefer Sutherland

Sutherland was born into an acting family — his father is Donald Sutherland — and began his own acting career as a teenager in Canadian and American film through the mid-1980s.

He delivered a genuinely strange, wheezing, limping performance as the human doctor forced to perform the Strangers' nightly memory surgeries in Dark City. Already an established film actor from The Lost Boys and A Few Good Men, he deliberately adopted an unusual, halting performance style for the role.

He later became widely known for his long-running lead role in the television series 24, a defining part that overshadowed much of his earlier film work in the popular imagination.
