Bruce Dern

Dern trained under legendary acting teacher Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio in New York before building a career playing unstable and morally ambiguous supporting characters through the 1960s.

He carries almost the entire film alone opposite three drone robots, playing an ecologist whose devotion to Earth's last forest curdles into something far more dangerous. Already established for playing unstable or morally ambiguous figures, he carried the vast majority of the film's screen time essentially solo.

He went on to an Academy Award-nominated career across several more decades of film work, becoming one of his generation's most respected character actors.
