Boris Sagal

Sagal was born in Russia and emigrated to the United States as a child, later studying at Yale School of Drama before building a career directing for the stage and then extensively for episodic television.

A prolific television and film director, he found the loneliest possible take on Los Angeles: one man, one gun, and a city of the infected waiting for dark. He worked primarily in episodic television throughout his career, directing hundreds of hours across numerous series, with feature films representing a smaller but notable part of his output.

He died in a helicopter accident on a television production in 1981, cutting his career short at a moment when he remained one of the industry's most reliably in-demand directors.
