Angela Bassett

Bassett studied theater at Yale, earning both an undergraduate degree and an MFA from the Yale School of Drama before building a substantial stage and film career through the late 1980s and 1990s.

She is the moral spine and the muscle of Strange Days — her limo-driving bodyguard Mace is the rare cyberpunk hero who refuses the technology everyone else is addicted to. Already an Academy Award nominee for her performance as Tina Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It, she brought considerable dramatic and physical presence to the role.

She has continued a prolific film and television career across multiple genres since, including major roles in later franchise blockbusters.
