Howard Shore

Shore trained at Boston's Berklee College of Music and worked as a founding member of Saturday Night Live's house band before moving into film composing, where his early partnership with a fellow Canadian filmmaker would define his career.

Cronenberg's career-long musical collaborator, and later the Oscar-winning composer of The Lord of the Rings, he scored Videodrome with an unsettling blend of orchestra and early digital synthesis. He scored the vast majority of Cronenberg's films across their decades-long collaboration, one of the longest-running director-composer partnerships in cinema.

His work on The Lord of the Rings trilogy later won him three Academy Awards, making him one of the few composers to move so successfully between cult horror scoring and mainstream blockbuster acclaim.
