Kerry Conran

Spent roughly four years animating a black-and-white proof-of-concept short essentially alone on a home computer before it became the basis for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, his only theatrical feature to date. He had no prior professional directing experience and taught himself the necessary digital filmmaking techniques largely on his own before the short attracted studio backing. Despite the film's technical influence on later virtual-production filmmaking, he has not directed another theatrical feature since.
